We took our three builds to this year's Bike Shed show after working on them all winter long. We had the 'Zver' Ural M67 650, the Kawasaki KLR 650, and the 'Lil CZ' CZ 125. These started as non-runners and pretty standard bikes, but with our limited budget and tools, we transformed them into what we proudly call the ultimate Budget Builds – true shed creations.
Our motivation was simple: we built these bikes for the ride. We made them look cool without sacrificing their functionality. After all, what's the use of having something look amazing if it can't deliver the ride you crave? These bikes were meant to be tear arsed around.
Being part of the Bike Shed Show in London was an honour. Our bikes stood alongside some of the most remarkable custom builds in the UK, some of which had budgets exceeding the combined cost of all three of our bikes. Yet our budget builds looked as good as them, keeping the passion alive with our builds, the true meaning of ‘Shed Builds’.
Sure, having a big budget and the luxury of choosing shiny new parts straight off the shelf would be great. But there's something special about the handcrafted touch, that custom look, the feel of a product shaped by your own hands, complete with the roughness and grease that comes with it. Sometimes those overly polished bikes can lack that lived-in look, that essence of being well-used. They're meant to be showpieces, and that's just not what we're about here at BR&CO. That’s why no matter what comes our way, we're committed to staying true to our origins – building things because of our deep-rooted passion. It's what drives us, and it's what sets us apart.
Now, it's onto the next chapter. We're gearing up for the 2024 Bike Shed Show with new builds in the pipeline. Stay tuned!
